The Ring

Page history last edited by Indy 13 years, 11 months ago

It turns out there is a movie called The Ring and it's about people getting killed by a vicious little mad dead girl who cursed a video tape or something like that.

It might've been a Fun plot for a movie if it didn't have such a drippy lame ending with the journalist and her pal making copies of Samara's cursed video tape to send around to others in order to pass the curse around and avoid getting killed within seven days themselves.

But that's not the worst of it. It may not be directly about animal rights, but the ar anti-breeder propaganda is present.

We have this utterly defunct family with this adopted kid who the lady got because she absolutely desperately wanted a child, but her husband, Richard, the horse-breeder didn't want any children. He even came right out and shouted it "There was never supposed to be any children!" or something to that effect and then offed himself. And This after it had been established via interview with Rachel the flaky little reporter that he had been a horse breeder and couldn't any more because of Samara, and when Samara went on about how her daddy didn't love her, that he only cared about the horses.

I'm not exactly clear about whether he killed Samara or if she did it herself. But probably, being a horse breeder, the animal rights slant of this movie would go that route and have him take care of horses and kill his kid. Anyway, the horses went mad, too, because with or without Samara's curse, according to animal welfare/rights/rescue drips, animals are always living in pure suffering 24/7 when owned by a breeder or rider or anyone else who is not into animal rescue... Give me a pickin break! It would've been so much more interesting if Richard had been a "horse rescuer" instead of a "horse breeder" but OOOOOOOOOHHHHHH NOOOOOOO! Can't do that, gotta make sure as always, to villify the average animal owner/breeder while the human-hating "animal rights/welfarist/rescuers" can do absolutely no wrong in the media, ever!
